While this year’s ARIAs went off without a hitch, one surprising choice by Nine left some viewers at home scratching their heads.

Both Jimmy Barnes and Kasey Chambers dropped F-bombs that were left uncensored by Channel 9 — despite the awards show being filmed hours in advance of its TV broadcast.

Accepting the ARIA for best soundtrack for documentary Working Class Boy, Barnes’ swearing wasn’t cut when his speech aired on TV at 8.20pm.

“I would like to thank John Watson my manager, my beautiful wife, my darling kids and my siblings, John, Dot, Linda, Alan and Lisa who lived through the f**king life with me,” Barnes said.

A prerecorded interview with Chambers as part of her ARIA Hall of Fame tribute also aired on TV at 8.44pm with an uncensored F-bomb.

“I still have days where I look in the mirror and I go, am I not pretty enough?” Chambers said.

“But my answer now is, who gives a f**k, you know. I don’t really care.”

Puzzled viewers took to Twitter to question why the uncensored swearing had made it to air, with one person tweeting: “Are you allowed to say f**k on TV before 8:30pm?”

“OK so Jimmy Barnes just said f**k on live TV and it wasn’t bleeped. what’s goin on #ARIAs,” another person tweeted.

Later on in the ceremony, Best Video winner Dean Lewis didn’t alter the F-bomb in his performance of worldwide hit Be Alright — and once more, Nine didn’t censor it.

As the broadcast edged close to 10pm rocker Bob Geldof delivered the fourth swear word of the night while being introduced on stage by host Keith Urban.
